About me
Hello! I'm Kate, or Mary, MacDonald.
I'm 26 years old living in western Oregon with my fiancé and pets while working from home on commissions! I have intense passion for dogs and anything relating to them, including training, behavior, and well-being. Art, cooking, and animals (especially dogs) are my main passions, but I also love many other things in life.

I went to college for many years before taking a long break: I studied biology for four years, and I studied art for two. I loved my biology program, but I realized, by the end of it, that academia was not my passion; art and animals were.
I tested the waters of an art degree after that realization, but my university was focused on traditional, museum type art programs, which transpired to be unhelpful in my type of work. I may return to finish either of the degrees in the future.
Nowadays I spend my full attention on my freelance commissions, and it's been a lot better! When I'm not drawing, then it's likely that I'm either playing WoW classic or watching the office over again for the 9th time.
I've always loved animals, but dogs have become a major part of my life over the past five years and I'm hoping to get more involved with them. I would really like to branch out into new hobbies, like dog sports (I would love to try joring, carting, and rally), and to learn about breeding! It's a dream of mine to mentor under a breeder. I'm mostly interested in sporting and working breeds, like golden retrievers, leonbergers, and bernese mountain dogs, but I would like to get involved with the herding and sight hound breeds some day too- rough collies, shepherds, afghan hounds and borzoi. There are a lot of other breeds I really like, but I'd be going on for hours. Besides mammals, I also am interested in 'exotic' pets like leopard geckos, blue-tongue skinks, giant snails, zebra finches, and, though less exotic, chickens!
Career wise, I would someday like to perhaps have a more steady income. Freelancing has been a huge lifesaver and a blessing, but I'd like to be able to provide more for my family. I'm keeping my eyes open for opportunities involving videogame companies, card games, and anything relating to dogs. I also love to do projects for books and media- like illustrations for novel covers! It's extremely rewarding to have your work used for something important to others!
