About me
Hello!! I'm Kate!
I'm 28 years old and from the pacific northwest USA! I live up here with my fiancé and our cats, and, eventually, dog(s)!
I've been drawing stuff my whole life, but only made it my full time job after going to college for years.
I studied biology mainly, and while the subjects were pretty interesting and complicated, I eventually (and probably too late, as I was nearly done with my degree) realized I didn't want that for a career.
I'm much happier drawing animals and all sorts of fantasy stuff now!
While I mainly draw wolves now, back before I joined DA (deviantart), I pretty much only drew dinosaurs and big-cats (lions, tigers, etc), or were-people. I only sketched, and rarely ever used color or painted.
Joining the DA community helped inspire me to learn more about art, to get a drawing tablet, and to draw things for others.
Now that I've been drawing wolves for so long, though, I really like them!
[Dog tangent]
Learning about how to draw wolves, and learning about their biology and behavior, also got me interested in dog biology and behavior (though the two are extremely different).
I really love all animals, especially cats, but dogs are most exciting to me. Teaching tricks and problem-solving, figuring out how to prevent or change behaviors, is very rewarding and fun.
I try to keep up to date and learn as much as I can about new discoveries/updates in dog welfare and behavior, or as much as I can as a noobie.
Ideally, I'd love to try sports with my future dog, like bikejor, carting, and rally! Personally, I think I'd like a retriever for FutureDog!
I'm very grateful for being able to draw as a job, and it's incredibly satisfying to make art for people!
